OK, so I bought this thing to stud a jacket (around 300 studs). Arrived and looked OK, but the blades - enough said: prior reviews are right. Primitive and blunt basically. All is not lost, however. Go to your local hobby store and get a pack of Excel Hobby Stencil Edge Blades. They fit the Xacto knife set too, but the idea is to break them in two so you only keep the narrrow part (go to http://www.excelhobbyblades.com/product_info.php?cPath=46_79- &products_id=194) and you will see what I mean. Then you can use them in the awl to set precisely the width you need for your studs. The broken off blade bit is sufficiently narrow to be right for even the smallest stud when pushed right through (watch your fingers!). As the blade is thinner than the supplied blade it will also need to be packed (cardboard will do) so it doesn't flop over sideways - but the upside is your width setting can be very precise. Overall a clumsy tool that, in the right hands can be turned into a very useful precision instrument. Rather like a hammer, really...
Did all 300 studs in one sitting without fatigue or cuts!
